This is definitely a date for our diaries. Hanna Wirman is coming to town and amongst other things is taking time to give a talk at Bristol Games Hub about her research. Hanna hails originally from Finland did her phd at DCRC/UWE and is now running games development modules at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. For her PhD (which is online here) she focused on gender & gaming in Sims, and is still interested in social innovation in games. Recently she has developed a strand of research with “non-human animals as players”, building “games for orang-utans’ enrichment and for cross-species communication”, which led to her Orang-utan Game Jams where secondary school students make games for apes!
Hopefully Hanna will talk about this as part of her talk, which takes place on Thursday 24th October at Bristol Games Hub.
